Superjeweler – Ring try-on
The challenge
Jewellery retailer Superjeweler approached us with an idea for a virtual try-on solution of their vast collection of rings.
At the time, they had an option for customers to view rings in 360º, but they wanted to expand this further to virtual try-ons, empowering customers to find the ring that suited them best.
Our approach
To scale the development of the AR visualisation solution, Superjeweler shared 2D images of 1,000 of their rings. Using these images, we used our proprietary 2D to 3D conversion tool, which took all 1,000 imported images and, using machine learning script, dynamically removed their backgrounds.
All 1,000 2D rings were then uploaded onto our CMS and added to Superjeweler’s AR viewer, where they can be virtually tried on using a phone or desktop computer’s camera. The visualisation tool automatically adapts the 2D rings so that they appear as if they’re wrapped around the person’s finger, giving a 3D impression.
When trying on the rings, users are also able to select which finger they’d like to try the ring on, as well as adjust the size of the ring to their own finger.
The AR viewer comes with added features, such as an Add to basket function and the ability to share photos of the experience on social media. Superjeweler can also easily manage their ring catalogue using the CMS.
The outcome
Superjeweler’s ring try-on experience went live on their website, enabling the AR try-on of a collection of 1,000 rings.
The experience has already garnered an average of 22.9 seconds in dwell time, providing a more engaging experience than the average product page.
